"Dance" is a miracle: the film makes the spectator complete movements that have never been performed on the screen. Everything happens inside the head of the spectator.
Based on the musical score of "Knee 1" from "Einstein on the Beach", written by Philip Glass, a dancer performs a sequence of dance steps. During its three-and-a-half-minute run, "Dance" gets close to the disintegration of the filmed performance. The complex movements of the body are completely re-composed by the observer. One becomes totally absorbed by the beauty and grace, reaching a state of mind only art is able to produce.

"Dance" ist ein Film über Körper und Bewegung. Philip Glass' serielle Musik gibt die rhythmische Grundform der geordneten Bewegungen einer Tänzerin vor. Die gefilmten Bewegungsabläufe wurden in der Bearbeitung des Materials gründlich zerlegt und neu zusammengesetzt. So entsteht eine Abfolge von Bewegungen, die nie getanzt wurde. Der Zuschauer führt während des Sehens die körperliche Abfolge fort und komponiert mit an der Gestalt des Films.
