The independently-working artist understands her work as dance form or a theater form in the style of a holistic aesthetic of movement. On this basis, she created her "Physical Theater", in 1987, with its solo and duo productions which have since been invited to guest performances at numerous festivals. Her works, at first strongly influenced by avant-garde Japanese Butoh forms, narrate the search for the original, for the essential. In her productions Eva Schmale always tries to communicate the holism of mankind.For the Dance Fair NRW Schmale has created the production "Installation für Stimme, Körper and Walwirbel" (Installation for Voice, Body and Whale Vertebrae), in collaboration with soprano Rena Meyer-Wiel, to be presented in the Art Shaft.
