Gelichter (II) und Körperreste
Lights (II) and Body Parts
Chris Kremberg
Germany 2002

The photographic series Gelichter evolved from a cooperation between Berlin artist Chris Kremberg with dancer Kazue Ikeda and is part of Kremberg's project that focuses on the theme of the human body. In Kremberg's photographs the dancer's body appears delicate, vulnerable and extremely transparent. Its movements resemble traces which like the surrounding space seem to disintegrate. The body seems to have become “space- and homeles” - thus a critic.

Gelichter (II) was shown in 2003 at Dance Factory at Hallesches Ufer in Berlin. The video Body Parts (8 minutes) shown in conjunction with the photographs was produced for the exhibition Pictograms of the Body in the “Cast Collection of Ancient Sculpture” in Berlin.
