Monoloog van Fumiyo Ikeda op het einde van Ottone Ottone
Walter Verdin
Belgium 1989/2003

The Monolog is part of the stage porduction Ottone Ottone by Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker of 1988, based on the opera L'Incoronatione di Poppea by Claudio Monteverdi. For the first time, Walter Verdin's film version has transformed a historical opera into an independent camera choreography.
The final monolog by Fumiyo Ikeda, presented to the public as an independent short film already in 1989, is a single film take filmed in black-and-white.

The installation was shown on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's dance company at the Palais de Beaux Art in Brussels in 2002. In 2003, Water Verdin produced a newly edited version of the film specifically for this installation.
