Top Shot on Violin Phase

Violin Phase is the first dance solo by Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker. It was choreographed in 1981 in New York. A year later, it became part of the choreography Fase, four movements to the music of Steve Reich. Thierry De Mey recorded the performance in 2001 - filming the solo performance that occasion from a 20m-high crane. The installation shows Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker dancing on white sand, the movements of her feet creating a graphic design in the sand that resembles a rose.

The installation was shown in 2002 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's company in the Palais de Beaux Arts in Brussels.

Thierry De Mey received numerous distinctions for his film work.
