Violin Phase is the first dance solo by Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker. It was choreographed in 1981 in New York. A year later, it became part of the choreography Fase, four movements to the music of Steve Reich. Thierry De Mey recorded the performance in 2001 - filming the solo performance that occasion from a 20m-high crane. The installation shows Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker dancing on white sand, the movements of her feet creating a graphic design in the sand that resembles a rose.

The installation was shown in 2002 on the occasion of the 25^th anniversary of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's company in the Palais de Beaux Arts in Brussels.
